An attempted description of what it’s like to see Cher perform

In January, I found out that Cher was going on tour and doing a show in Kansas City.  I bought my ticket then, and after nearly six months of waiting, Cher didn’t disappoint.  I don’t know that I could adequately describe what it’s like to see her live in concert.  I could write about the costume changes, the spectacular sets, the dancers and aerial acts, the lighting, the thrill of hearing “Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves,” her fantastically funny monologues, the diversity of the crowd, the sea of people that filled Sprint Center that night, the two little old ladies sitting next to me who had seen her perform before and preferred The Village People as an opening act to Cyndi Lauper, the over-the-top theatrics, the electricity that filled the auditorium when the curtain was raised and she took the stage singing “Woman’s World,” and how it all works because, at the base of it, Cher is a brilliant performer.  But, honestly, whatever I might write about the show would amount to, “You just had to be there.  It’s an experience you’ll never forget.”

And here’s one of my favorites I took on my iPhone during the last song.
